It is about damn time these kids got a home instead of living in the slums of India. These poor kids have been through hell and back since the blockbuster movie Slumdog Millionaire premiered. First, Ismail Azaharuddin (who played the younger Salim) gets slapped around by his dad for not giving an interview because he was tired, then Rubina Ali’s (who played the younger Latika) dad tries to sell her to some Saudi Prince for $300,000, then Rubina’s mom resurfaces after being gone for all of her life, then (phew) gets this,, she tries to whop Rubina’s stepmom, then their houses get demolished. Okay,,so yeah, I think that’s it.
So, we have some good news,, really good news. Danny Boyle the director of Slumdog Millionaire who made a killing off the movie must have felt bad after all the bad press so he went and bought Ismail a house an apartment with plans for Rubina to get one too. This is like Christmas because there are more presents for the Slumdog kids. Some Indian Congresman Ashok Chavan has come out of the wood works and has bought another home Ismail and Rubina!

Dev Patel and Frieda Pinto can’t deny it anymore they are in love and a couple. The stars of Slumdog Millionaire were caught being very affectionate in Israel where Frieda is currently filming a movie. A fellow onlooker said: “They looked very happy together and they didn’t seem to care who saw them.Dev couldn’t take his eyes off her — and she kept snuggling up to get closer to him.”
This definetly adds some truth to the rumor that Dev and Frieda were shopping for rings on Valentine’s Day in London. We think they need to come out with their relationship so we can get some good pictures of the love birds. Take a look at the gallery!

It was bound to happen. A fight broke out between Slumdog Millionaire actress Rubina Ali‘s mother (pictured above with leopard print) and her stepmother (pictured above in gold) in Mumbai’s Garib Nagar slums as everyone watched. The two woman went blow for blow tearing out each other’s hair, choking, and slapping each other. The worst part of it all was little Rubina Ali watching it all!
The fight which no one seemed to care to stop began with Rubina’s biological mother saying: “You treacherous b*tch, give my daughter back!” This is not the first fight between the two woman who first came to blows after Rubina returned from the Oscars. After the fight Rubina’s stepmother said:
“Khushi has been after Rubina since the time she went to the Oscars. For seven years before that, she didn’t care.
“Why would we sell Rubina? She is her father’s favourite. I love Khushi’s children more than she would have loved them.”
After the cat fight, Qureshi said:
“As far as Khushi is concerned, she left Rubina when she was two years old. Why should we give her custody now? The children are happy with us. These reports [regarding the sale of his daughter] are not true. I went to the hotel to shoot an ad film. I would never sell my daughter.”
This story is getting worse as the days go by.

According to the News of the World Rafiq Qureshi the father of Rubina Ali tried to sell his daughter for roughly $300,000. In an attempt to escape the poverty of India’s Bandra slum neighborhood Rafiq said to an undercover reporter that: “I have to consider what’s best for me, my family and Rubina’s future.” Rafiq went on to blame the Hollywood executives for making him put his daughter up for sale because in his words: “We’ve got nothing out of this film.”
Alongside Rafiq was his brother Mohiuddin Qureshi who insisted on raising the price of the child four fold saying: “The child is special now. This is NOT an ordinary child. This is an Oscar child!”

Rubina Ali played the young Latika in the mega hit movie Slumdog Millionaire. Unfortunately this type of illegal adoption is not new or uncommon in India where children are often used for child labor or prostitution. Very sad.
