Once again Lil Wayne has managed to postpone his jail sentence. Dwayne Carter aka Weezy was due in court on March 2 for his 2007 gun charge until a fire broke out at the Manhattan Criminal Court Building. Supposedly the fire was caused by a electrical wiring default in the basement AND the sprinklers were not working. Talk about luck huh?
It was then thought that Lil Wayne would appear on Wednesday but his hearing has now been delayed until this coming Monday. When my Uncle Lou Lou had to get locked up there were no delays they took his a$$ straight to lockup. In his free time Weezy had a surprise guest appearance at the Jay-Z concert at Madison Square Garden.

Jay-Z and Alicia Keys tore down the house that Ruth built last night! The New York Yankees took home a Big W against the Philadelphia Phillies with a score of 3-1. Two of New York City’s finest warmed up the crowd before game 2 of the World Series. Jay-Z and Alicia Keys performed their hit “Empire State of Mind” at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx. In my opinion it would have been a better performance if Alicia and Jay-Z’s mics were in sync and didn’t have an echo. And what’s up with the bass player he looked like he wasn’t playing! Where is Lil’ Mama when you need her? Check out the video from last nights’ World Series as cameras catch players from both dugouts bobbing their heads and enjoying the show.
Congratulations to Jay-Z who has snatched the #1 spot on Billboard 200 with “The BluePrint #3″ album. In his first week alone The Empire State of Mind rapper has already sold 476,000 copies so far! Hova has now passed Elvis Presley with the most No.1 albums in Billboard 200 history. Can you say bragging rights? Oh yeah and he has also the second most No.1 albums among all recording artists EXCEPT the Beatles. Brush your shoulders off playa!

Who honestly would have thought Jay-Z could have been mad at Beyonce for allowing Taylor Swift to speak? A little birdy with a big mouth (Wendy Williams) stated on her show today that Jay-Z was pissed off that Beyonce did just that. The BluePrint 3 artist left the MTV Video Music Awards show early without his wife and hit the afterparties (40/40 Club, 1Oak) with his cute little protege Rihanna. Now we all know that Rih Rih and J apparently had a “thing” back a few years ago. Beyonce was rumored to have not exactly been too happy about their relationship as well. Jay wouldn’t slip on his marriage……would he???

Jay Z brought the house down last night at his 9/11 Benefit Concert at MSG. The two hour show was peppered with everything from his first album to his latest Blueprint III album. Jay also brought the house down by bringing out some seriously big guns!!! He did performances with Memphis Bleek, Mary J. Blige, Rihanna, Diddy, Kanye, Kid Cudi, John Mayer, Pharrell and of coarse you can’t forget his lady….Beyonce.
Check out some of the videos below to get a taste of how the night went! We loved Mary!
Jay’s Opening
Beyonce
Jay-Z did the David Letterman promoting the release of his new cd The Blueprint and as much as we don’t want to admit it he did a great job. Jay-Z aka Shawn Carter managed to duck and dodge questions regarding his marriage to Beyonce but along the way he made us laugh. It looks like Jigga is becoming a household name first the interview with the queen of media Oprah Winfrey and now a guest appearance on David Letterman. Check out the video!

Who would have thought the kid from the Marcy Projects in Brooklyn could get Oprah to step foot into his hood? In the October 2009 issue of O Magazine the Hard Knock Life rapper spills the beans about his not so glamorous beginnings to his marriage to Ms. Sasha Fierce. Take a sneak peek!
Jay-Z on being a drug dealer at the age of 13
Oprah: So tell me how you got into the drug dealing.
Jay-Z: It was natural.…
Oprah: Because drug dealers were your role models. There wasn’t a teacher or a lawyer or a nurse or a doctor or an accountant in the neighborhood?
Jay-Z: Well, we were living in Marcy by then, so, no. And if anyone did become something like that, they moved out. They never came back to share the wisdom of how they made it. If anyone made it, you never knew it. That’s why I’ve always said that if I became successful, I’d come back here, grab somebody, and show him how it can be done.
Oprah: So by the time you were 13, this was a way of life. Did the lifestyle frighten you?
Jay-Z: No. It was normal. And at some point, you become addicted to the feeling. The uncertainty and adrenaline and danger of that lifestyle.
Jay-Z on being shot at
Oprah: This is where we differ. This is where we differ. Because I’d be very scared! Weren’t you shot at three times—within six feet—and you lived to talk about it?
Jay-Z: That was divine intervention. Divine intervention, and nobody knowing how to shoot.
Oprah: What happened in each situation?
Jay-Z: It was one situation, three shots.
Oprah: So he was a bad shot.
Jay-Z: Well, no one really practices shooting a TEC-9 machine gun, right? And when you’re a kid, with little bony arms—no wonder nobody could aim.
Jay-Z on growing up
Oprah: Many of the little boys who grew up in the Marcy projects are either in jail or dead. Why do you think you got to grow up and buy your mom a house?
Jay-Z: There’s the gift, there’s the spirit, and there’s the work—all three have to come together. If one of those things is off, it can stop you from becoming who you were meant to be.
Jay-Z & the use of the N word
Oprah: When I met you a few years ago, we discussed our disagreement over the use of the N word and misogynist lyrics in rap music. Do you believe that using the N word is necessary?
Jay-Z: Nothing is necessary. It’s just become part of the way we communicate. My generation hasn’t had the same experience with that word that generations of people before us had. We weren’t so close to the pain. So in our way, we disarmed the word. We took the fire pin out of the grenade.
Jay-Z on his wedding to Beyonce and life with the superstar
Oprah: Do you and Beyoncé have a pact that you just won’t talk about each other?
Jay-Z: Yeah. When you’re a public person, you have to keep some things to yourself, or else people will just—
Oprah: Eat it up. I know. But can I ask how in the world you kept your wedding a secret?
Jay-Z: Late planning!
Oprah: How many people knew?
Jay-Z: Very few. The sad part is that we offended some. But people who love you understand. Because at the end of the day, it’s your day.
Oprah: So here we are, talking on a Sunday afternoon. If you weren’t sitting here with me, what would you be doing?
Jay-Z: I’m gonna get killed for this, but I’ll tell you anyway. There’s a great pizza spot we go to every Sunday. It’s our tradition. It’s a small place in Brooklyn, you can bring your own wine, and there are candles there. It’s a nice date.
Thousands of fans bought tickets expecting to see The Beastie Boys tear up the stage for Friday nights performance at the All Points West Festival in New Jersey. Unfortunately, the group learned that Adam “MCA” Rock had to undergo emergency surgery for a cancerous tumor in his throat, and the group cancelled all of their upcoming concert appearances. When a group of this stature pulls out of a performance, who better to fill in those shoes then Brooklyn’s finest Jay Z. The clock counted down from 10 while fans screamed and cheered as Jay Z opened up representing for the Beastie Boys by performing their classic hit “No Sleep Til Brooklyn“.

Whoa, Whoa not so fast there C-Breezy. No one has forgotten your heavy hand yet. Chris Brown was supposed to perform at the BET Awards at the Shrine Auditorium last weekend BUT Jay-Z had other plans for him. You see Rihanna is Jay-Z’s artist and he didn’t want Chris anywhere near the BET awards or of course near his precious Riri who wasn’t even scheduled to make an appearance. According to a source: “Jay-Z wasn’t having it. He threatened to pull out of the show if Chris was involved, so BET dropped Chris.” That simple. A rep for Brown said “That’s not true — he was never confirmed to perform.” Sure we believe that one. We guess Chris is going to have to stage his comeback another time.

Who knew the kid from Brooklyn’s Canarsie projects was so picky? Jay-Z, the 39-year-old rapper/entrepreneur gave quite a demanding list for an April concert at the University of Arizona. The items requested included: a dressing room that must be at 72 degrees, goodies like vodka, tequila, Sapporo beer, two bottles of $300 champagne, two bottles (at $200 apiece) of 2004 Sassicaia, and did we forget a black Maybach preferably a late model either a ’57 or ’62 with tints (Shawn can’t have the commoners looking at him can he?). Also don’t forget six cans of Red Bull; a pack of Marlboro Lights; and “good quality” peanut butter and jelly. What the hell is “good quality” peanut butter and jelly? We assume there are better brands than the regular supermarket jiffy and smucker’s.
Unfortunately, Jigga didn’t get everything he asked for because the school does not provide artists with alcohol, tobacco, or $400,000 luxury vehicles. The hard knock life artist did get his fee of $750,000 for his set caviar not included.
