It’s been a tough year for Rihanna since her beating from ex-boyfriend Chris Brown. Rihanna’s resilence and perseverance has not gone unnoticed and she is the 2009 Women of the Year Award for Glamour Magazine. The bajan beauty spent over 50,000 to fly in her entire family to New York for the big event and to also thank them for their support through this rough patch in her life. Missing from the festivities was Ronald Fenty, Rihanna’s father. The pop star told Diane Sawyer last week that he’d abused her mother when Rihanna was a child. Rihanna said during her tearful acceptance speech, “I really look up to my gran and my mom. They are my two women of the year . . . Without their unconditional love and guidance, I wouldn’t be here.”
Other Glamour women of the year awards were given to Maria Shriver, Maya Angelou, Stella McCartney, Amy Poehler, Jane Aronson, Serena Williams, Ambassador Susan Rice, Euna Lee & Laura Ling and a special recognition to First Lady Michelle Obama.

Vh-1 Hip Honors Awards show was recorded last night at the Brooklyn Academy of Music Opera House with (premiere on October 13th) but we got our hands on some pics for you. Everyone was in attendance from old school conscious rap group Public Enemy to Ludacris to the ladies of hip-hop Eve and Foxy Brown.

What a great show last night for the VH-1 Divas! The musical performers and honorees were Miley Cyrus, Adele, Kelly Clarkson, Jordin Sparks, and Leona Lewis. Take a peek at Sheryl Crow, Jennifer Hudson, Melissa Etheridge and many others on the red carpet.

Beyonce is such a sweet person but there is a little drama regarding the whole Kanye-Gate incident. After ‘Ye stole the spotlight everyone was amazed how Beyonce invited Taylor to speak during what should have been Beyonce’s moment to shine. The story behind this is that backstage Matthew Knowles consoled a crying Taylor and her mom Andrea. Matthew told US Magazine that:
“It was all Beyonce’s decision. I want to be clear about that. My job is to execute and come up with some ideas, but ultimately that was Beyonce’s decision.”
While the idea to allow Taylor to come onstage appears to be Beyonce’s dad/manager, it was Beyonce who decided to let Taylor Swift finish her Best Female Video acceptance speech. Matthew is proud of his daughter:
“I’ve always said the thing that makes me most proud about Beyonce is not how many records she sold or how many plaques she has or how many awards; it’s that she’s a genuine good person. I know it’s hard for people to believe that she can really be that nice of a person, but she really is.”
What do you guys think? Does it matter whose idea it was?

We just loved how MTV had a great tribute to Michael Jackson what we loved the most was Madonna‘s touching memories of the King Of Pop. Madonna called Michael Jackson “the greatest talent the world has ever known. that when he sang a song at the ripe old age of 8 he could make you feel like an experienced adult was squeezing your heart with his words that the way he moved had the elegance of Fred Astaire and packed the punch like Muhammed Ali.” Check out Madonna’s tribute to Michael.

The MTV Video Music Awards were back in the Big Apple last night finally and in my opinion it was the best VMA show in such a long time. There were so many artists performing and everyone looked fabulous! Pinkhad an awesome performance but did you know she and Shakira had on the same dress! What a shocker that must have been on the red carpet. Luckily, there were no cat fights and two gals were good sports about it. Check out the gallery with pictures of: Lady Gaga, Beyonce, Amerie, Madonna, Lauren Conrad, Ashley Greene, Jennifer Lopez, Taylor Swift, Alicia Keys, Leighton Meester, and Whitney Port.

If you watched the VMA’s last night Lady Gaga we just know that you had to keep thinking to yourself what is she gonna do next? The night started off with Lady Gaga bringing Kermit the Frog as her date! and they even shared a kiss. We are not sure if Miss Piggy is gonna like that but it was cute. The Poker Face singer must have had at least 5 costume changes and every single one of them was more intriguing than the last. Lady Gaga won a moon man for Best New Artist, but her video Paparazzi won for Best Art Direction (awarded to Jason Hamilton) and Best Special Effects (awarded to Chimney Pot). Take a look at Lady Gaga’s night out at the VMA’s.

Besides all of the drama at last night’s MTV VMA we all had the chance to see Michael Jackson‘s This Is It movie trailer. Judging from the trailer this movie is going to be a hit. You can see and feel his perfection and dedication to his work. The movie will hit theaters October 28th I am getting excited!

After making a complete a$$ of himself (AGAIN) at MTV’s VMA Kanye took to his blog to apologize to Taylor Swift for his rude behavior. Shortly after the VMA’s wrapped Mr.West took to his blog to say he is sorry for his rude behavior. Honestly someone needs to pull the brother aside and tell him a few things. Taylor is only 17 years old! and Kanye was not performing he was only a guest this year so what’s up with the behavior? We have to admit we loved the way Taylor handled Kanye’s rude behavior. We also loved how Beyonce let Taylor take the stage. Next time instead of apologizing Kanye needs to shut his mouth.

What a great night in New York City! All of the celebs came out but unfortunately not all were on their best behavior eh hem… Kanye. Enjoy the pics of the 2009 MTV VMA’s at Radio City Music Hall.
