Today President Barack Obama was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for his “extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples.” Obama was “surprised and humbled” by the Nobel Committee’s decision. It was a signal to the world that the US wants peace. Barack Obama shares the elite prize with other great Americans like former President Jimmy Carter, former Vice-President Al Gore, and Martin Luther King. Not too shabby for a President who has only been in office for 9 months.
Just got a hold of the video of President Obama calling Kanye West a Jackass. It is clearly obvious that Obama thought his comment was off the record with ABC News reporter Terry Moran. During the video Moran was getting his makeup touched up as the President sat comfortable in his chair casually talking to aides in the room. Immediately after made the comment he pointed his finger to Moran’s staff his and said: All this stuff (comment)…I’m assuming (is off the record).. Obama then refers to himself in the third person adding: Come on guys, cut the president some slack.
The video is funny as hell it catches the President being a normal person. We are pretty sure that Sasha and Malia are Taylor Swift fans. But what is up with Terry Moran’s lack of journalism standards?
ABC news reporter Terry Moran is making some noise with his twitter account. During an interview with President Obama Moran tweeted: “President Obama just called Kanye a jackass for his outburst at VMA’s when Taylor Swift won. Now that’s Presidential.” The comment that was made was supposed to be off the record and as journalist Terry should have kept it at that. Moran tried to do some damage control and delete the post but it doesn’t work when you have over a million followers! You can still find it here.
An ABC spokesman explained to Politico.com exactly what happened.
“In the process of reporting on remarks by President Obama that were made during a CNBC interview, ABC News employees prematurely tweeted a portion of those remarks that turned out to be from an off-the-record portion of the interview. This was done before our editorial process had been completed. That was wrong. We apologize to the White House and CNBC and are taking steps to ensure that it will not happen again.”
The White House had no immediate comment but someone is going to ask the Prez sooner or later.
This healthcare debate is serious. Despite the disagreements among the Republicans and Democrats regarding universal health coverage the two parties seemed to be united against for the disrespectful republican Congressman Joe Wilson. During the passionate speech President Obama vowed that there will be no provision for illegal immigrants to receive medical assistance. Wilson responded by yelling: “You Lied” to the President of the United States during a keynote address to Congress and the American people. The words that were greeted by moans and groans of disapproval from across the chamber. Obama being the cool calm collected person that he is is paused and looked in the direction of the congressman and said calmly “that’s not true”.
We think the debate on healthcare will continue but the Dems will definetly press ahead. In case missed the speech make sure to check it out.
President Obama turns 48 years old today. Unfortunately he doesn’t get to take the day off. The President will have lunch with the entire Senate Democratic Caucus this afternoon. “Chuck E. Cheese was booked,” Press Secretary Robert Gibbs joked yesterday. Happy Birthday Mr. Prez!
There was no bounce for President Obama‘s first pitch of the All-Star Game! Wearing jeans, sneakers, and a Chicago White Sox jacket Obama walked out onto the mound to throw a pretty good pitch to St. Louis Cardinals first baseman Albert Pujois. Peep the video of Obama’s smooth pitch.
President Obama in the last week has already been to Russia and now he is in Italy with some of his G8 buddies. We got a picture of Obama sneaking a peek at an Italian beauty’s backside. He likes big butts and he can’t deny that right? Have you seen Michelle’s badunk a dunk? We ain’t hatin’ Mr. Prez because we also caught French President Sarkozy peeping too. Look but don’t touch fellas!
Happy 8th Birthday to Sasha Obama!
How great it must be to spend your birthday in London. Yesterday Sasha, Malia, and the First Lady spent the day sightseeing at Westminister Abbey and they even saw the Disney musical Lion King at the Lyceum Theater in London’s End.
After the lights dimmed in the theater the Obamas sat down to enjoy the musical but it was not long before the 2,000 theater goers saw Sasha and Malia watching the play. “The children were clearly having a good time,” one fellow audience member . “There was quite a buzz in the theater once people spotted them during the first part.”
During intermission, everyone was basically taking out their cell phones to tell friends of the Obamas in the theater. Afterwards, an audience member said “I saw the girls skipping back into their box from their private room.” We love how Sasha has such a great personality. We hope she eats lots of birthday cake! Take a look at the 15 pics of Miss Sasha.
As if New York City is not the coolest place to be or live this weekend proved it. We had visits from Prince Harry of Wales and President Barack Obama all in one weekend! Our President took the First Lady Michelle Obama out to a very private romantic dinner at the Blue Hill restaurant in the Greenwich Village before heading off to see Joe Turner’s Come and Gone Tony nominated August Wilson Broadway play. Barack said: “I am taking my wife to New York City because I promised her during the campaign that I would take her to a Broadway show after it was all finished.” As a New Yorker I have to admit nothing surprises us because we are just pretty cool about everything. I mean this is a place where we see celebrities every day but to have the Bams see a play well we get all crazy about it!
Prince Harry topped off his trip to NYC with a charity polo match, and a visit to Harlem’s Children Zone before heading off to the other side of the pond. What a whirlwind weekend! we wonder what next week will bring? Check out the photos from NYC’s amazing weekend!
The 2009 White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner took place this weekend in Washington, D.C. and it appeared to have been a blast. The comedienne Wanda Sykes was host and she told some pretty funny jokes. This the once a year event when politicans and journalists seem to get along. The dinner is a who’s who event with celebrities, journalists, and politicians all mingling together. The attendees ranged from Barbara Walters to Ashton Kutcher to Bon Jovi to Former U.S. Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld. Here is just some of the jokes Ms. Sykes told during her roast to the President.
“The first black president! I know you’re bi-racial, but. The first black president! That’s unless you screw up. Then it’s gonna be: what’s up with the half-white guy?”
“Sarah Palin was supposed to be here but pulled out at the last minute. Someone should tell her: that’s not how you practice abstinence.”
“Limbaugh[Rush] was the 20th hijacker but he was so strung out on Oxycontin he missed the flight.”
President Obama also had some jokes of his own take a look they are pretty funny!
“Sasha and Malia aren’t here tonight because they’re grounded. You can’t just take Air Force One on a joyride to Manhattan.”
(Rahm Emmanuel joke) “Mother’s Day is a tough holiday for him. He’s not used to having to say the word day after ‘mother’ “.
Obama goes on to praise First Lady Michelle: “No matter which party you belong to, you have to agree, Michelle has the right to bear arms.”
“Dick Cheney was supposed to be here, but he was working on his memoirs. How To Shoot Friends and Interrogate People.”
“During the next 100 days, we will design, build, and open a library to commemorate my first hundred days…we will house train our dog Bo, because the last thing Tim Geithner needs is someone else to treat him like a fire hydrant. In the next 100 days, we will complete 100 days work in 72 days. And on the 73rd day, I will rest.”
If you have a spare moment you can watch a snippet of Obama’s speech, or browse the pics below.
